NV Energy
Activity description
NV Energy has a long history in the state of Nevada, and they're proud to provide safe reliable, affordable energy to more than 1.5 million customers., and especially proud of their continued progress toward a clean energy future.
NV Energy is moving forward with the development of Greenlink Nevada, the new transmission and renewable energy initiative that will transform Nevada’s clean energy landscape, create thousands of jobs, promote economic development and position the state to achieve its environmental and carbon reduction goals.
NV Energy is well on its way to achieving our state’s renewable portfolio standard of 50 percent by 2030. The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) approved their proposal for two additional solar with battery storage projects that will be built in Valmy, Nevada and ultimately replace the North Valmy Generation Station, our only remaining coal-fired power plant. These projects will be part of 57 utility-scale geothermal, solar, solar plus storage, wind and hydro projects both in service and under development to serve their customers.
In 2021, NV Energy filed its Transmission Infrastructure for a Clean Energy Economy Plan and Economic Recovery Transportation Electrification Plan that fulfill Governor Steve Sisolak’s and the Nevada Legislature’s vision for Nevada’s new sustainable energy economy – creating jobs and delivering the environmental and economic benefits of clean energy to all Nevadans.
NV Energy is also dedicated to making a positive difference through their philanthropic efforts. In 2021, the company, its employees and the NV Energy Foundation gave more than $5.3 million through financial and in-kind donations, including more than 15,000 volunteer hours to Nevada nonprofit organizations. More than $5 million of our contributions were dedicated to Nevada causes that support diversity, equity and inclusion – values at the core of NV Energy employee culture and commitment as they strive to enrich the lives of our employees and enhance the communities where we live and work.
