Nevada Business & Education Expo

Nevada Business & Education Expo

The Lieutenant Governor's Office of Small Business Advocacy, the White Pine County School District, and the White Pine Chamber of Commerce, have partnered to support economic and educational development in the Silver State. The Nevada Business & Education Expo will be held in Ely at White Pine High School on Friday, October 11th. Through this heightened focus on Education and the Economy: Legislators, Elected Leaders, Educators, and Stakeholders will begin Building a Better Nevada, together.

This large-scale event will provide perspective and institutional knowledge from the substantive conversations taking place in areas of Nevada's economic and educational enhancement. Education is an innate contributor to the economic sustainability of a community. We are excited to bring together experts in their fields, to provide support to small businesses, while also creating a space to address the critical needs facing educational challenges in the Silver State.

The Nevada Business & Education Expo will include:

  • Small Business Resource Fair: Every Small Business Owner, Entrepreneur, and Employer in Nevada will benefit from attending this event as 30+ Small Business Resource Agencies from federal, state, and local levels, will be on hand to provide their support services;
  • Economic Forum: Come and be a part of a Town Hall meeting with economic leaders, legislators, and elected officials, all convening to hear directly from educators, stakeholders, entrepreneurs, small business owners, and community members on the issues that matter.
  • Nevada Education Summit: Superintendents, educators, teachers, administrators, and academic professionals from across Nevada, will assemble to address the continued needs of Nevada’s K-12 students, as well as collaboratively discuss best practices and strategies for improving the academic performance of our school systems.
    The National Council on Education and the Economy will provide guidance and insight into how the two vital sectors are intertwined and contribute to the success and sustainability of local, regional, and large communities.
    A key focus of breakout sessions will be developing the Science of Reading into Nevada's K-12 curriculum.

As Nevada continues to rank well below the national averages in per-pupil funding: 48th out of 50 according to the National Education Association; as well as in academic performance: 45th out of 50, stakeholders must begin rethinking strategies. In order to prepare our state for the next generation of global competitiveness and to meet the needs of developing Nevada’s workforces, both economic and educational leaders are required to join forces to lead and demand elected officials act for the best interest and viability, as well as its sustainability of our state’s future.  Every parent, professional, educator, elected officer, and student is needed to participate in the creation of an improved educational system. From Kinder to college; from trade school to internship and apprentice programs, the time is now to take Nevada from 49th to First.

Legislators, Superintendents, elected leaders, teachers, and economic agencies from federal, state, and local levels are all invited and encouraged to attend the day’s conference-like workshops and breakout sessions, to hear directly from teachers, parents, and students. The Lieutenant governor, Stavros Anthony, Assemblyman Burt Gurr, Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar, J.J. Goicoechea, Director of Nevada’s Department of Agriculture, as well as the National Council on Education and the Economy, and many more, will be in attendance and working together to build a better Nevada.

Nevada Business & Education Expo on October 11th may be the first of it’s kind, but will help launch 1000 ships on a rising tide. If you can’t make the event, make sure to encourage your state representatives to be there in order to support Nevada’s teachers, parents, and students who will enheirit our state’s economy.
